1/5 Are We Alone In The Universe?
For fifty years, the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence has been scanning the galaxy for a message from an alien civilisation. So far to no avail, but a recent breakthrough suggests they may one day succeed.
Horizon joins the planet hunters who’ve discovered a new world called Gliese 581 c. It is the most Earth-like planet yet found around another star and may have habitats capable of supporting life. NASA too hopes to find fifty more Earth-like planets by the end of the decade, all of which dramatically increases the chance that alien life has begun elsewhere in the galaxy.

if god was bent for humans perhaps he would create earth and sun only!..but a trillion galaxies were created..a zillion suns..a zillion trillion planets..it seems animal and plant Heirarchys is a god law..another god law is intelligence is opposited with agression..

i know that formule but it’s not complete ^^

seti is pointless b/c aliens dont comunicate with radio broadcasting. they use telepathy its so much more efficient and telpathy between stars is the same as next to

I have no doubt that other civilizations on other planets have found and met civilizations on other planets, just not us.

K, my math was way off, looked it up again and Drake’s estimate was 10,000 in our Milky Way galaxy. It’s still alot.

Looks like Earth like planets are far more common then we thought, and this one is only 20 light years away. So far the ratio is 1 Earth like planet for about every 200 planets found. If the chance of a star having a habitual planet, water, atmosphere, oxygen, life, intelligent life, ect., is .0000001% chance for each of those variables, with all the stars just in our galaxy it still adds up to 88 million. Yes, it’s a guess, but nonetheless it makes you think. Google Drake Equation.

Dude, disease & poverty are there by design, it is no accident. By all means spend your life trying to help others, but the greatest gift you can give the world is an individual who is happy, who knows his true nature and is free.
“Be the change you want to see in the world.” - Gandhi

It was a serious suggestion. Let’s stop all research and work right now into anything that isn’t to do with solving diseases and poverty. NO other causes are worthy. What are you doing wasting time on YouTube? There are people to save out there! Only when every single person in the world is completely happy and there are no problems can we even THINK about researching outerspace. Until then it should be completely forbidden!!!!! Those morons!

Your comment shows a huge amount of ignorance on your part. As for spending time finding a cure for AIDS, you’d be better off employing your time finding out the cause, then you’d know why no “cure” has yet been found.
May 3rd, 2009 at 11:24 pm
Sure. Ban all research into space and ET intelligence because there are still problems on Earth.
Hell, what about those people who made YouTube. What are they doing spending time and huge amounts of money on running a video sharing website when they should be spending their time and money on a cure for AID’s.
You’ll be waiting a while for a perfect Earth.

earth is only 4 billion years old and the universe is 13.7 billion years old so its more likely we arent the 1st beings when theres a time gap of 9.7 billion that other planets are ahead of us
May 6th, 2009 at 2:50 am
hey im catholic, and i think there are alien life forms out there for sure. Those aren’t catholics who u heard from, they were a bunch of morons. A catholic would tell you yea theres life out there.
May 7th, 2009 at 12:24 am
If we have to wait for a utopic world, we will never have cosmos exploration. I agree on what you say but the fact is there are people in the world that want people to die and to be pover.
and those people are the ones on top of it all
May 7th, 2009 at 6:34 am
I can’t watch this any more; thousands of people are dying every day from starvation, even more are being driven into poverty, going hungry & are diseased whilst these morons spend time & huge amounts of money worrying about life on OTHER planets.
Food & health for all earthlings, THEN call the neighbours to say “hi”.
If I were on another planet my highest priority would be to hide my existence from the backwards creatures turning this planet into a Godless dump.
May 8th, 2009 at 11:44 am
You think we’re advanced beings? Have you taken a good look around you lately?
There are 100 billion stars in our galaxy & there are over 100 billion galaxies; I think the odds there’s already life out there are pretty good.

It is a possibility that they would be using Radio waves but atleast it would be at extreme differences depending on environmental factors. These can include how much of an atmosphere they have, how hot or cold it is, etc. Also, what about civilizations that simply don’t use Radio waves or atleast not yet. What if there is a civilization that use telepathy! Then it’s unlikely that they would have to use Radio waves for anything. Simply too many factors.
May 13th, 2009 at 11:51 am
Well, think of it this way. Radio was the first long-range instantaneous communications medium developed by humans. Its also likely to be one of the first long-range comms methods discovered by an extra-terrestrial civilization since its hard to imagine any technological race not discovering Radio waves and their applications. So,why broadcast in a complex manner when you can use the most basic[ie Radio]which could easily be picked up by any nearby civilization?
May 16th, 2009 at 3:52 pm
dont forget every universe has to have one advance beings to start maybe thats why were here to populate the universe but i dont think so cuz the universe is like 400billion years old
May 19th, 2009 at 11:41 am
Just because you didn’t get your shitty radio signal you think we’re alone!? Don’t jump to conclusions so damn quickly. Do you know how hard it is to find an alien civilization that uses radio waves for communication!? They could be using a totally different method! There are simply too many factors. Besides, I thought they did pick up a few signals around the 1950’s.
May 20th, 2009 at 7:48 pm
its all those damn catholics that think there is only life on earth, **** religion, THATS manmade urggg!
May 22nd, 2009 at 11:42 pm
Silence…because we are alone. They heard nothing..
May 26th, 2009 at 6:34 am
Every life grows and develops as the ambient is around him …like fishes in the water.. and on other planets is possible there is an other life, but i think very different from us, maybe be so different that we do not imagine it, don’t u think?…
