Actually it’s a completely new design. The same designer, Burt Rutan did it so there are a lot of similarities. Overall it’s got less drag and is a more reliable design than Voyager so he outdid himself.
Let’s not forget that this was a SOLO flight as well.

wow.. kind of a jerk arnt you?
Yes, the Voyager did fly around the world, but there are big differences between the two.
1.) Voyager had 2 pilots, GF had 1
2.) Voyager was a piston engine (2 i think), GF was a single jet.
Sure its not as big of a leap as Voyager was, but its still a jump. And remember the GF and Voyager were both designed by Burt, so of course they look similar. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.

I understand the name is Global flyer, but it’s a remake of another plane. That other plane “the voyager” already flew non stop around the world so who care what this new plane did.

this isn’t the first time the voyager was flown around the world. I grew up in the town were the voyager was built and I can remember them being the first to fly around the world a long time ago.

yes. they’re called ‘booms’ and they hold a lot of the fuel. The rest is in the wings, and in a small tank in the middle section.
When the globalflyer took off, 87% of its overall weight was fuel… that’s a lot!
